Oh Gluten Free Chocolate Cake
sitting so temptingly on the plate
Oh Confectionery king!
of lightest cake, and rich icing
Sweetly topped with vermicelli:
you make me want to fill my belly.
For Coeliacs you are a treasure
especially baked for their pleasure.
The urge to eat you’s growing stronger.
I cannot wait a moment longer
I lick my lips and start to savour
your lovely chocolatey flavour.
pick up a cake fork and begin
deeper and deeper to dig in
Every mouthful I partake
shows I’m making a mistake
soon there’s nothing left to take
but tiny crumbs upon the plate
